Yes, apartments can be co-ed. Not all of them are, so look carefully at the roommates description if same-gender is important to you.
Note: Shared bedrooms are always shared by same-gender roommates. But there could 2 boys/ 2 girls in one apartment or 2 girls/1 boy or 1 girl/2 boys.
